If you’re reading this you’re probably stuck at home with nothing to do, but everyone thanks you for doing your part to flatten the curve! In order to help keep you busy (but not too busy 😉) we have prepared a list of some fun & safe activities for you to do while you’re isolated at home.
1. Board Games
Everyone loves a good board game, and if you have family or a roommate to play with – You’re set!
If you find yourself home alone, don’t worry! Online has a ton of options available, either through Google or your app store, which will allow you access to loads of classic board games that you can play online by yourself or virtually with your friends or family.
2. House Cleaning
It depends on what your idea of fun is, but this is surely something safe and most definitely needed. It’s also the perfect time of year for it – Spring cleaning anyone?
Take this time to tackle some deep cleaning, and less “fun” jobs such as cleaning behind your refrigerator, organizing that pesky junk drawer, dusting and cleaning your blinds or even purging your basement!
3. Video Games
Now is the perfect time to brush up on your Super Mario World skills!
Another option is to also play online, if you have games that can do so. See if your friends can also play online with you and you probably won’t even remember you’re self-isolating.
4. Write a Book
Have you ever imagined yourself writing a short story or novel? Now is the perfect time to dust off your laptop (or grab that pen and paper) and start writing! You’ll be amazed by what you’re actually capable of, if you put your mind to it.
5. Learn Something New
If you’re sitting at home all day bored out of your mind, take this time to learn about something that you have always wanted to, but could never find the time to research. Ever wanted to know what it takes to start your own business? Or maybe you want to learn Spanish or how (as long as you have the ingredients) to make your grandma’s famous pumpkin pie?
Take this time to learn from the comfort of your own home and grow this new skill into something you will have forever!
6. Virtual Fitness Class
With fitness centers now closed, many businesses (CrossFit Centers, Spin Studios, Yoga Studios, etc.) are bringing the fun to you and offering virtual classes that you can take part in from the comfort of your own home! Follow group pages on Facebook, or search your local fitness centers online to find out how you can get involved and stay active!
7. Crossword Puzzles
Pull out that crossword puzzle book, challenge your mind and enjoy yourself!
If you have exhausted your crossword puzzle supply there are also apps that you can download to keep you playing, which can easily be found in the app store!
8. Phone a Relative or Friend
Haven’t phoned your grandparents, Aunt Marjorie, or even your close friends in a while? Give them a call and drift away into a nice conversation! Surely they will appreciate the call.
9. Learn to Become More Tech Savvy
Have you ever wanted to learn how to do graphic design, make a website, create a Facebook page or even complete a conference call with ease? Now is a great time to learn one of these infinitely useful skills.
A lot of information can be found online and the possibilities are endless!
10. Revisit an Old Indoor Hobby
Maybe you have some leftover yarn you were saving to knit that blanket long ago, or you have a puzzle you have been meaning to put together, or maybe it’s time to dig out that paint and canvas you forgot about. Return to that old hobby to relax and clear your mind!
Canadians need to do their part to flatten the curve and stop the spread of COVID-19. It is very important to maintain social distancing and if you’re self-isolating, it is imperative that you do so at home and for the mandatory amount of time set by our Government and Health Canada. Stay Safe!
