When meeting a vehicle on the highway you must have your headlights dimmed at least 200 M (650 FT) in advance to passing any oncoming vehicle on the highway.
Also you are not required to dim your headlights for oncoming traffic on a divided highway if the roads are 22 M (70 FT) or more apart. (this is measured from left shoulder to left shoulder marking in each direction of travel)
Did you know?
It is actually statistically safer to have your headlights on at all times? According to SGI studies show vehicles that always have their headlights on are less subject to collisions then ones with their headlights off.
